The Reason I Won't Buy a Mac

I just come over a post about all new macbooks are rigged with HDCP (High Definition Content Protection). That means you need to have HDCP-compliant devices in order to show the content, or else you will get the above message, implying you are a filthy pirate.

This reason alone is more than enough to drive me away from buying any Apple products. I am thinking to get a notebook in a couple of months, but not macbooks anymore.

This is a problem with Nvidia Chipset, I think all the 9400M chipset will have this problem. Then you can only buy laptop with intel or AMD chipset.

Seems that HDCP is only needed to play HDCP content. If you don't want to play HDCP content, then the message shouldn't be a bother? It shouldn't interfere with non-HDCP content.

Not sure if it's true but that's what I always thought.

The presence of this technology is unacceptable to me. I use my action to tell Apple (and others) that trying to hand-cuff the customers in this way won't work, and in fact, can hurt them financially.
