Is Years of Experience Important for Job Applicants?

There is an insightful article on this topic here. I think it applies to most jobs, though the article specifically talks about on software development.

That's what happens when signalling fails -- metrics comes into play.

For one thing, most HR function on basis of the average. Hence resulting in the non-average ones leaving and having the average ones remaining. This becomes a vicious cycle where the average becomes more entrenched in an average company because of the average hiring and maintenance scheme.

Then again, many people think they aren't average when they are. ;)
